Absent AEW star admits to 'missing the violence' amidst 600+ day hiatus
A top AEW star has been absent from the company for almost two years. The star being discussed is Tay Melo.
The 29-year-old star was on her way to becoming one of the top wrestlers in the female locker room. However, Tay's run stalled due to her pregnancy. She hasn't wrestled in the Jacksonville-based promotion since January 2023. Melo and Sammy Guevara welcomed their first child, Luna, in November last year.
Tay Melo's last match was a Street Fight, in which she teamed up with Anna Jay against Willow Nightingale and Ruby Soho on an episode of Rampage. In August, she revealed that she had been cleared to wrestle and would communicate with AEW President Tony Khan about the potential comeback.
The 29-year-old star took to X to share that she was missing the in-ring violence as she hasn't stepped foot in AEW for almost two years.
"Mama Tay is missing the violence," she wrote.

Tay Melo reveals the hardships she faced while training again during her AEW absence
Tay Melo started training to get back on track a few months after Luna's birth. She opened up about the difficulties she had to face in May.
On X/Twitter, the absent star claimed that she was weak on the inside and even frustrated during that period.
"So happy to be able to be in the ring again. With a lot of patience I’ll get ready to be back, it’s a whole new body & I still feel so [weak] inside.. I got frustrated a couple times, had to hold my tears and keep going. My body was my baby’s home for 40 weeks and now I’ll get stronger not just for me but for her too. It’s a long way to go but I’m closer than yesterday," she shared.
As of now, she hasn't been scheduled to return despite being cleared.
