Absent AEW star "finally cleared" for return after serious injury

An absent AEW star has been medically cleared for action following a serious injury earlier this year. The talent in question is Thunder Rosa.

La Mera Mera is one of the most respected performers from AEW's women's division. After returning from a lengthy injury-related hiatus last year, Rosa had been competing with some regularity on the Tony Khan-led promotion's weekly television shows Dynamite, Rampage and Collision.

She was last seen in action on the August 31, 2024, episode of Collision, unsuccessfully participating in a four-way contender's match for the TBS Championship that would ultimately be won by Hikaru Shida. The Mexican star has been sidelined, courtesy of a concussion, since then.

Appearing on a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, Thunder Rosa revealed that she had been medically cleared to return to in-ring competition. The former AEW Women's World Champion conveyed her gratitude to the promotion's medical staff and also urged individuals and athletes to treat concussions seriously and appropriately.

“I want to thank the [All Elite Wrestling] medical [team] and everyone that was involved - I’m finally cleared. If you feel that you have a concussion, please go to your doctor. If you are an athlete, please let your coaches know that this is important.” [H/T - Fightful]

Thunder Rosa recently discussed her past match with AEW's Hikaru Shida

In one of her earliest matches in All Elite Wrestling, Thunder Rosa challenged Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women's World Championship at All Out 2020. The Shining Samurai successfully retained her title against her formidable opponent in just under seventeen minutes. The two women have shared the ring several times since then, often as tag partners.

Rosa reminisced on her All Out match against Shida last month on X/Twitter, highlighting the importance of the bout and expressing her gratitude towards the Japanese star for helping to elevate her own credibility in the All Elite Wrestling women's division.

"One of the most important moments in my career. One of the most memorable things I have done in 11 years of wrestling. Although @shidahikaru are not seeing eye to eye right now, she helped me cement myself as the heart of this division @aew #lameramera #AllOut," Thunder Rosa shared.

It remains to be seen what will be next for Thunder Rosa when she returns to All Elite Wrestling television.
