"Absolutely" - Former WWE star open to working in AEW
Former WWE star who recently departed from the company has stated that she is open to working for All Elite Wrestling as their schedule suits her better.
The star in question is Lacey Evans, who joined WWE in 2016 and has worked on all three brands of the company. However, the former United States Marine left the Stamford-based promotion after seven years when she let her contract expire on August 15, 2023.
Speaking on Road Trip AFTER HOURS with Teddy Long and Mac Davis, Evans talked about returning to the wrestling ring in AEW and how the WWE lifestyle doesn't suit her:
"Absolutely, I'm mean as hell. I don't think people realize I'm one mean son of a gun, and I think that was probably my fault for requesting my release. There is no hard feeling with WWE. It's great, but that lifestyle is for people who hold their title above their heads, that's what makes them feel significant or feel like they've accomplished something. Man, me being able to make my kids food and cook for my old man that to me is worth all the weight and gold." [From 23:25 to 24:05]
Teddy Long gives his thoughts on Lacey Evans' WWE departure
Former SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long believes that backstage issues could be the reason behind the departure of Lacey Evans from the Stamford-based promotion.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long praised Lacey Evan and speculated that she could have been the victim of backstage politics:
"That's the name of the game - a lot of money. I don't really know her [Lacey Evans] that well, but I've seen her and [I think] she's an outstanding worker, man. She looks great and I think she's in a position where she doesn't have to take stuff from anybody. So I believe, and like I said, I don't know her, [but] I think she's pretty much fed up with all the politics in this business and she knows she doesn't really have to take that and she can go on and be successful at something else. And that's how I think she made her decision to just leave and go on and do her own thing and she's probably made the right decision. I don't know but God bless her and I hope whatever happens for her is all for the best". [From 04:26 to 05:10]
