Adam Cole seemingly teases returning to major promotion after nearly 7 years amid AEW absence
Former WWE NXT champion Adam Cole recently shared a post on social media amid his absence from AEW. He seemingly teasing a return to a popular wrestling promotion where he hasn't been on the promotion for seven years.
Cole recently teased returning to Ring of Honor for the first time since 2017. He made his AEW debut in 2021 after an incredible run on WWE NXT from 2017 to 2021. Before that, he spent most of his career in ROH from 2009 to 2017. In 2022, Tony Khan announced that he had brought the company, making it the sister promotion of All Elite Wrestling.
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old star has been out of action due to injuries for over 10 months now. He last competed at the All Out 2023 pay-per-view, where he teamed up with MJF against Dark Order. Cole also made a number of TV appearances in the past several months.
On Twitter/X, Adam Cole has shared a throwback picture of him with the Ring of Honor world championship amid his AEW absence. He captioned the image with "Boom," seemingly referencing his theme song.
Update on Adam Cole's injury
Fans have been anticipating Cole's return to the ring for several months. Dave Meltzer has provided an update on the injury and the AEW star's recovery in his recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
"Because of the complexity of Adam Cole's injury, there’s still a little time left out of action but he hopes it’s not much longer. Cole is able to walk now, so he's on the way back."
The last time Cole was seen at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view was when the former AEW world champion, MJF, knocked him out. Only time will tell when Adam will be healthy enough for an in-ring return.
