Adam Cole to shockingly betray 41-year-old star in AEW to set up new rivalry, says veteran

WCW veteran Disco Inferno claims Adam Cole could betray Roderick Strong to kickstart a new rivalry in AEW. Cole and Strong are long-time friends and have worked together on various promotions.

Since Adam Cole's surprising return to AEW last month at WrestleDream, he has wanted to fight Maxwell Jacob Friedman. However, the storyline has a major twist: Cole and Roderick Strong are racing for victories in their individual matches, and the one with the most wins will fight MJF at Full Gear pay-per-view later this month.

Both Adam Cole and Roderick Strong are part of the Undisputed Kingdom in AEW. However, Cole has said that he wants to fight Friedman alone. In a recent edition of the Keepin'It 100 podcast, WCW veteran Disco Inferno proposed an interesting twist in the storyline.

The veteran said that The Panama City Playboy could screw over Strong in his next match, which would kick start a rivalry between the two friends and help the promotion to move away from MJF and Cole's storyline.

"What if Adam Cole in Roderick Strong's next match comes in and attacks Roderick Strong's guy and gets Roderick Strong disqualified and then Adam Cole gets to face MJF and what would be the logical payback, Roddy comes in to screw him. We get away from MJF and Adam Cole and go off with Roderick Strong and Adam Cole." [From 13:50 to 14:16]

AEW star Adam Cole recently opened up on his rehab

Adam Cole got injured at last year's AEW Grand Slam Dynamite. The injury kept him out of action for over a year until his recent in-ring return. The former NXT Champion recently opened up about his recovery.

In a recent chat on Stick to Wrestling podcast, Adam Cole revealed that someone else's bone was put in his ankle, including different screws.

"Truth be told, my ankle did practically explode. I had to have two surgeries within seven days. I have a cadaver bone, meaning someone else's bone, in my ankle as well as a bunch of different screws and stuff. The rehab was quite a difficult process, to be expected, but again, the whole time, I was just thinking about 'I got to get back, I got to get back.' Then as it got closer and closer, I started feeling better and feeling like myself again," he said. [H/T - WrestlingInc.]

Adam Cole was eyeing the AEW World Championship before his injury. It will be interesting to see if he sets his sights back on the title after dealing with MJF.
