Adam Copeland (fka Edge) wants to face current AEW champion before he retires
Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, recently opened up on his wish to face a current AEW champion before he hangs up his boots. The latter is none other than Will Ospreay.
The Rated-R Superstar has been on the shelf since sustaining a fractured tibia at the AEW Double or Nothing 2024 Pay-Per-View. While Copeland is currently on the mend and rehabilitating, fans have continued to discuss prospective dream matches for the former TNT Champion when he returns to AEW programming. The WWE Hall of Famer himself has revealed his thoughts on a prospective first-time bout with one of the Tony Khan-led promotion's top current stars, Will Ospreay.
While speaking with Haley Miller of ComicBook, Adam Copeland spoke about potentially locking horns with the reigning AEW International Champion with excitement.
"That's definitely a match that for me would be so much fun just because the possibilities there with my mindset, my mentality and how I approach things and how he does would be a lot of fun. And also as a person, he's a really, really good guy who has a massive passion for this. And when you have that, that makes it exciting because it's like, 'Okay, you don't got to bring all the passion to the table 'cause this guy does too. Right, let's go.' That's usually when magic can happen," Adam Copeland said. [H/T Fightful]
The 50-year-old legend also reflected on approaching the tail-end of his career, and of his desire to contribute to AEW in various capacities, re-iterating his openness to a bout against The Aerial Assassin.
"For me, it's also a great test. Like I'm 50 years old, I'm winding this down. I gotta still be able to get in there with those guys and produce to know how long to stick around for. You don't ever wanna be a detriment. I wanted to go to AEW to help; I wanted to try and help backstage. I wanted to try and help with creative. I wanted to try and help with training, as a sounding board, whatever it is. Just whatever hat you need me to wear, I'll throw it on. And if that means I get to get in there with a guy like Ospreay? Hell yeah!" Adam Copeland said. [H/T Fightful]
Will Ospreay is scheduled to defend his AEW International Championship against PAC at the All Out 2024 Pay-Per-View.
AEW star Adam Copeland provided an update on his recovery
Adam Copeland has been missing from in-ring action for several months now due to an injury to his tibia that he picked up during his successful TNT Championship defense against Malakai Black at the AEW Double or Nothing 2024 Pay-Per-View. During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, The Ultimate Opportunist provided an update on his health, revealing that he is able to walk, enter the ring, and "move around a little bit," although he was unable to offer a timeline for his comeback.
It remains to be seen when Adam Copeland will step back into the squared circle in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
