AEW accidentally spoils Bryan Danielson’s future
AEW may have accidentally revealed a major spoiler regarding Bryan Danielson's professional future. The spoiler in question pertains to the Blackpool Combat Club's potential involvement in a future pay-per-view.
Bryan Danielson, formerly known as Daniel Bryan, may draw the curtain on his decorated in-ring career at the All In Pay-Per-View later this month. The American Dragon is scheduled to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship in a Title vs. Career match at the event. Given the fact that the former WWE Superstar has been open about his desire to finish up as a full-time wrestler this year, many people expect him to lose to Strickland at Wembley Stadium. However, it appears that the possibility of Danielson emerging victorious at All In 2024 cannot entirely be dismissed.
A screenshot of the official poster for the 2024 edition of All Out, one of AEW's annual pay-per-views that is set to be presented on September 7, recently made rounds on X/Twitter. Fans were quick to point out Bryan Danielson's inclusion in the poster, suggesting his potential participation in the event. Such a prospect, in turn, logically implies that the 43-year-old legend's in-ring career may not come to an end at All In 2024, which further points to the possibility of The American Dragon dethroning Swerve (who is not seen to be carrying his championship belt on the All Out 2024 poster) for the AEW World Championship at Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom.
Moreover, a recent report from WrestlePurists claimed that Strickland could be set to take on his arch-rival, "Hangman" Adam Page, at All Out 2024. The report did not specify if the bout between the two men at the Now Arena in Chicago would be contested over the AEW World Championship, which makes the case for Danielson potentially dethroning Swerve at All In 2024, leaving Strickland free to work with Page at All Out.
Swerve Strickland seemingly turned heel by attacking Bryan Danielson on AEW Dynamite
Swerve Strickland took on Blackpool Combat Club member Wheeler Yuta in a non-title match on the August 14, 2024, episode of Dynamite. The New Flavor defeated the former ROH Pure Champion dominantly, forcing the referee to stop the match after destroying Yuta and peppering him with strikes to his face.
Bryan Danielson, who was present ringside for the bout, rushed into the ring to stop Swerve from continuing his attack on his protege. Strickland then grabbed a microphone on his way backstage and told the former WWE Champion that he would not only hurt and retire him at AEW All In 2024 but also that he would cripple Danielson in front of his daughter.
The 33-year-old star then launched a sneak attack on Danielson, taking him out with a House Call and mockingly performing the latter's signature "YES!" chant afterward. With this move, Strickland seemingly turned to the dark side ahead of his upcoming AEW World Championship match.
It remains to be seen if a fired-up Danielson can win the AEW World Championship later this month.
