AEW champion drops huge news about future; issues open challenge
An AEW champion has announced some big news about his immediate future and issued an open challenge. This could have a domino effect in the locker room.
The star in question is Konosuke Takeshita. The AEW International Champion is one of the company's most feared wrestlers, and he has now challenged the New Japan Pro-Wrestling roster.
NJPW will have events in the USA in November and December. Takeshita has revealed that he will be there and will put his title on the line. Cutting a promo, he said:
“New Japan fans, listen up. I have some good news for you. The Alpha and the AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita is coming to NJPW events. November 8th in Massachusetts and December 15th in Long Beach. Who do I want to face? Anybody who wants to take a shot. Do you want this belt? Well, I want something too. I want anyone with the guts to try and take it from me. Step up, punks. Come and take it.”
AEW star Konosuke Takeshita reveals meeting with Shinsuke Nakamura
Konosuke Takeshita and Shinsuke Nakamura are two of Japan’s best wrestlers. One works in All Elite Wrestling, while the other works for WWE.
Takeshita recently revealed how he often meets with Nakamura and how he compliments him on his work. He was giving an interview with Tokyo Sports when he said:
"Isn't [Shinsuke Nakamura] the top of the top as a Japanese player? In terms of achievements and influence. I am probably the closest to him as a Japanese wrestler, and I have met and talked with him many times, and he has said to me, 'The future is Take-chan.' It's a heavy cross to bear, but more than anything, it's my confidence."
It is great to see that he has such a huge respect for Shinsuke Nakamura. He will hope that he lives up to the WWE star's words.
