AEW Collision ratings sees a drop despite former champion’s return after 170+ days
AEW Collision ratings toppled again despite a 36-year-old star's return after more than five months. The star being discussed is Hikaru Shida. She has held the AEW Women's World Championship three times.
This week's Collision episode took place a day prior to AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door III. It had a huge line-up ahead of the pay-per-view. All the members of the ladder match were involved in a six-man tag team match. Also, Daniel Garcia faced Butcher and Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay were scheduled for a weigh-in.
As per Wrestlenomics, the show garnered an average audience of 422,000 and was rated 0.12 among the 18-49 demographics. This number is lower than last week as the previous week drew 429,000 total viewers and was rated 0.14 among the demographics. While this week's number is slightly down, this was the third week in a row where Collision viewership was above 400,000.
Hikaru Shida returned to defeat Deonna Purrazzo to proceed further in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. This was her first match in the company since January 2024. Also, Will and Swerve were involved in a brawl to end the show.
It remains to be seen how long will Collision continue to draw average views of more than 400,000.
