AEW could have copied the moment that got Bryan Danielson fired from WWE, says star, instead of a plastic bag (Exclusive)

AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson was recently taken out by the Blackpool Combat Club and a former WWE star has shared how he would have booked the segment. The star in question is none other than EC3.

At the AEW All Out pay-per-view, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli launched a brutal attack on their Blackpool Combat Club stablemate, Bryan Danielson. Claudio took Bryan out with an uppercut which allowed Jon Moxley to suffocate Bryan with a plastic bag.

However, former WWE star EC3 believes that AEW should have made Moxley use a necktie instead of a plastic bag. In 2010, Bryan Danielson debuted in WWE as a part of The Nexus by beating down John Cena and the rest of the crew ringside. During the attack, Bryan choked ring announcer Justin Roberts with a necktie which immediately led to his firing from the promotion. The American Dragon was hired back by the promotion later that year.

In the recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast with Dr. Chris Featherstone, former WWE star EC3 explained how the plastic bag spot did not involve any story. He recalled the infamous necktie spot involving Bryan and ring announcer Justin Roberts and claimed that if Moxley had done that instead, it would have added more to the segment due to the backstory.

"Murdering him with the plastic bag, perhaps they went back to the necktie that he used on Justin Roberts. The necktie calls back to something that happened in the story and I think there's more emotion, and more heat involved when you're calling back something of that nature because that was significant and got Daniel Bryan fired. A cool callback like that would make me far more engaged in the story than the fact that the man might be dead. But he's not because it's professional wrestling and you can't literally kill a man on television, yet." [9:40 - 12:00]

EC3 further explained how he would book Bryan Danielson's AEW feud going forward

In the same interview, EC3 stated that even though some great matchups between Bryan Danielson against Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli could happen in the future, the stakes are much higher now. He proposed that a duel should happen between the rivals.

"You can't believe that Bryan Danielson has perished from this earth via suffocation with a plastic bag and if I'm booking the thing like you know heel turn's a big deal and he's the champ, and you get some phenomenal matches out of Bryan versus Moxley, Bryan versus Claudio, that sounds cool on paper but the stakes are so high now, they can't really wrestle. They have to have a medieval duel." [10:43-10:51]

It will be interesting to see what AEW has in store for Bryan Danielson and the Blackpool Combat Club feud.
