AEW deliberately snubs two current champions
AEW has seemingly snubbed two current champions as seen on the promotion's roster page recently. The two talents in question are Killswitch and Nick Wayne.
On the July 20, 2024, episode of Collision, The Patriarchy squared off against The Bang Bang Gang for the vacant AEW World Trios Championships. The team of Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, and Killswitch defeated Juice Robinson and The Gunns (who had won the belts along with Jay White earlier this year) to win the titles.
Fans have shared their excitement on social media over Cage and his stablemates securing the top prize of the trios division, considering Christian Cage's ability to elevate any division and championship picture he becomes involved in.
One user recently took to X/Twitter to point out that the 50-year-old legend can be seen carrying all three belts making up the AEW World Trios Titles on his own shoulders on the company's roster page.
This is not the first time Cage's character has sought to claim exclusive credit for the success of his faction members. Notably, The Patriarch insisted on carrying Killswitch's TNT Title after he defeated Wardlow for the belt last year.
He even referred to himself as the reigning TNT Champion despite Killswitch being the actual title-holder. This would change when Cage managed to win the belt on the September 23, 2023, episode of Collision in a Triple Threat match involving the former Jurassic Express member and Darby Allin.
AEW star Austin Gunn sent a message to Christian Cage
The AEW World Trios Title bout between The Bang Bang Gang and The Patriarchy ended on a controversial note after Shayna Wayne interfered in the match and sprayed hairspray into Juice Robinson's eyes while the referee was distracted. Robinson suffered a Killswitch from Christian Cage, who pinned Robinson to pick up the win for himself and his faction members.
Juice, along with The Gunns, responded to The Patriarchy's victory, promising retaliation against the villainous stable. Former World Tag Team Champion Austin Gunn also took to social media to send a message to Christian Cage, posting a gif from the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, where a character chucks a wrench at another character's face.
“me to Christian when I find him #AEWCollision.”

It remains to be seen where the feud between The Bang Bang Gang and The Patriarchy leads, especially with The House of Black potentially waiting in the wings to resume their rivalry with Cage and company.
