AEW Dynamite ratings go downhill in the week after airing CM Punk footage debacle
AEW Dynamite saw a dip in ratings the week after the promotion aired CM Punk-Jack Perry All In backstage footage.
The April 17 edition of Dynamite was held in Indianapolis. This was a go-home show for the Dynasty pay-per-view. The show featured stars like Adam Copeland, Will Ospreay, Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks, and many more.
According to Wrestlenomics, this week's Dynamite drew 762,000 views and was rated 0.26 among the 18-49 demographics.
The number is lower than last week, as the previous week drew 819,000 views and was rated 0.30 in the demo. The numbers surged then because AEW decided to air the controversial footage of All In's backstage brawl between CM Punk and Jack Perry. Despite increasing the numbers, the promotion didn't draw much of an audience this week.
The highlight of the show was Will Ospreay vs. Claudio Castagnoli. The duo sold the show with their amazing match. Also, Adam Copeland and Willow Nightingale teamed up to take on Brodie King and Julia Hart in a mixed tag team match
It will be interesting to see if there is a surge in Dynamite ratings following the Dynasty pay-per-view. The PPV will take place on April 21, with the main story being Samoa Joe vs. Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship.
