AEW Dynamite's record-low numbers spark a religious response from WWE veteran (Exclusive)

AEW Dynamite recently reached dangerously low viewership numbers and ratings, causing concern for many. A WWE veteran has commented on the matter, particularly bashing fans who are defending Tony Khan's product.

While the Jacksonville-based promotion had a good start in 2019 and continued to prove itself to be a credible competitor to WWE for a while, its popularity has decidedly dwindled as of late. A recent episode of Dynamite went head to head with NXT, drawing only 329,000 viewers in comparison to NXT's 874,000.

While these numbers don't hold as much weight as they have in previous years owing to Dynamite airing on a different night and in a different time slot while NXT has moved from cable to network television, it still alarmed many fans. Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo lashed out at fans who were still defending the quality of Tony Khan's product. He stated:

"It's people settling for mediocrity. I mean that's, I have no tolerance for that whatsoever. Bro, listen, we are Christian men. And I have a firm belief that our great God did not create us to be mediocre. He created all of us to do great things. There was a plan for all of us to do great things." [1:37 onwards]

The WWE veteran was not pleased with diehard AEW fans

Despite the decline in AEW's popularity, a significant number of fans don't believe there is anything wrong with the product.

Adding to his comments on The Wrestling Outlaws show, Russo made these fans the target of his criticism and stated that mediocrity was something that extended beyond the wrestling side of these fans' lives.

"You've got so many people settling for mediocrity when it comes to the wrestling product. Bro what does that say for the rest of their lives? They're gonna settle for a mediocre job, they're gonna settle for a mediocre salary. They are gonna settle for mediocre kids. Nah bro you've got to strive to be the absolute best you can be." As of now, it remains to be seen what Tony Khan plans to do next to help AEW down the line.
