AEW Dynamite sees a drop in ratings; draws lesser viewership than WWE NXT featuring Cody Rhodes
AEW Dynamite saw a huge decline in ratings this week, and its viewership became less than NXT's. This edition of the white and gold brand featured Cody Rhodes.
This week's Dynamite featured stars like Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, MJF, Rush, Mercedes Mone, and many others. Also, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, and Roderick Strong defeated Kyle O'Reilly, Mark Briscoe, and Orange Cassidy in a stellar match.
The night's main event saw the Aeriel Assassin defend his International Championship against Rey Fenix. Swerve and Will got involved in a heated exchange to end the show.
Also, this week's NXT had Cody Rhodes, Trick Williams, Ethan Page, and many other stars. This was the fallout edition from NXT Battleground. The American Nightmare was featured in different segments of the show, interacting with various stars. This week's NXT drew 718,000 viewers and was rated 0.22 according to demos.
As per Wrestlenomics, Dynamite drew 681,000 average viewers and was rated 0.23 among the 18-49 demographics. This is a 14% decline in numbers from last week, as the previous week drew 790,000 viewers.
NXT doesn't usually exceed Dynamite's average viewership. However, this week, the episode has surpassed AEW's total viewership with a total of 718,000, partly thanks to Cody's appearance.
While the All Elite show didn't surpass NXT in viewership, Dynamite beat WWE's developmental brand in demographics. The number of viewers in P18-49 for NXT was 284,000, and 297,000 for Dynamite.
It will be interesting to see how AEW will bounce back from the low ratings next week.
