AEW Dynamite sees major ratings increase as All In 2024 build continues
This week's AEW Dynamite was a major milestone for the Jacksonville-based promotion. Tony Khan & Co. celebrated the flagship Wednesday show's 250th episode with a major title match and several segments to continue the build to All In 2024, and as a result the ratings also made a big leap.
AEW Dynamite's ratings have been lagging in recent months, but the company is enjoying a bit of momentum on the back of Forbidden Door 2024. With the Wednesday night show going up against the Republican National Convention this week, predictions were all over the place, but All Elite Wrestling managed to score its best number in several weeks.
The latest episode of AEW Dynamite pulled in an average of 795,000 viewers, a solid 15% increase from the previous week's edition. The show also garnered a 0.27 rating in the key 18-49 demo, an increase of 17% from last week's Dynamite. WrestleNomics gave a snapshot of AEW's continuing momentum, pointing out that the latest episode was up 24% in average viewers against the previous four weeks.
AEW Dynamite 250 had some interesting implications for All In 2024
Will Ospreay and MJF kicked off this week's episode of AEW Dynamite with an International Championship match that went a staggering 59 minutes and 58 seconds. In the end, Maxwell Jacob Friedman managed to dethrone The Aerial Assassin just two seconds before a time-limit draw.
Many fans were shocked by the outcome, as it's now unclear what Tony Khan has in store for Will Ospreay at All In next month. The pay-per-view will take place at Wembley Stadium in Ospreay's home country of The United Kingdom, and the 31-year-old has no gold to carry into the event.
Elsewhere on AEW Dynamite, Mercedes Mone defended her TBS Championship against Nyla Rose but was blindsided by Britt Baker after the match. This all but confirms that the two will square off at the London pay-per-view on August 25, but with more than a month to go before the show, anything could happen.
Additionally, Swerve Strickland vs. Kazuchika Okada provided a preview of the carnage fans will likely witness in this year's Blood & Guts match. Fans held their breath when Strickland came face-to-face with his archrival, 'Hangman' Adam Page, but we'll have to wait until they both enter the cage next week to see them fight once again.
Lastly, Mariah May gave AEW fans a look into her unhinged mindset, explaining that she still loved Toni Storm despite brutalizing her last week. The two are set to clash with Storm's AEW Women's World Championship on the line at Wembley Stadium.
