AEW could have an emotional storyline arc for Wheeler Yuta after All Out betrayal, hopes ex-WWE star
At the All Out pay-per-view, AEW's beloved faction, the Blackpool Combat Club met a tragic ending. After AEW World Champion, Bryan Danielson, retained his title against Jack Perry, Jon Moxley brutally attacked him. Furthermore, this segment drew heavy criticism from veterans for its vicious nature.
When the erstwhile 'Lunatic Fringe' was choking the leader of the "Yes!" movement with a plastic bag, Wheeler Yuta appeared immensely empathetic towards his mentor. The former ROH Pure Champion even tried to intervene, but PAC didn't allow him to. After the segment's conclusion, Danielson was escorted backstage by All Elite Wrestling medical staff and Yuta. It isn't known if he is still a part of Moxley's group, however, according to Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English), the promotion has the opportunity to showcase an emotional and compelling story where the 27-year-old will have to make crucial decisions.
"This could be such a good, emotional character arc for Yuta. It could be, those guys trying to manipulate him and be like 'Time for you to toughen up.' Or like 'Time to pass the final test'. It is a very classic, film-television kinda tale. Or you can like cry and moan and run back to your mentor kind of thing and 'What's he gonna do?' But that can be a really good little arc for Yuta to start standing out. I am excited to see that," said Rehwoldt. [From 35:04 to 35:40]
Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and PAC currently hold the AEW World Trios Championship. Hence, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for everyone involved.
AEW star Bryan Danielson on training Wheeler Yuta
In a 2023 interview with Sports Illustrated, Bryan Danielson opened up on training with Wheeler Yuta. The two reportedly share a strong bond. Furthermore, the AEW World Champion admitted that training with the 27-year-old has improved his skills and in-ring ability.
"I go in earlier with Wheeler to teach and train, and I also pick his brain as a younger wrestler. That makes me a better wrestler. Through the process of teaching, I’m becoming better," said Danielson. [H/T Wrestling Headlines]
In the next few episodes of Dynamite, fans will probably learn who Wheeler Yuta will side with.
