AEW could entice Sting to return for an exciting angle, says legend: "Well, maybe one more time" (Exclusive)

WWE Hall of Famer Sting retired from the squared circle after an impressive run in AEW that came to an end earlier this year. However, a legend believes AEW could convince him to return for an exciting angle.

Bill Apter is the latest to comment on Sting's future. The Icon joined AEW in 2020 and immediately formed a tag team with Darby Allin. Together, they were involved in some high-profile matches and even remained undefeated as a tag team.

Last year, The Icon shocked the world when he announced that he would retire this year at AEW Revolution after competing in his final match. Just prior to this match, Darby Allin and Sting won the AEW World Tag Team Championship. They defended the titles at AEW Revolution 2024 and came out on top.

With this win, The Icon retired with a perfect win/loss record in AEW. However, Sting recently revealed that he had signed a new deal with the Jacksonville-based promotion which led many to believe that he could return to the ring.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast with host Mac Davis, Bill Apter said that Tony Khan's promotion could convince the WCW legend to return with an exciting angle.

"Is he going to wrestle again? I don't think so but you never know. You never know where there is one angle where they need him and he might just work, I don't know, in someone's corner and get involved or he might just agree to one more tag team match or something. You know, wrestling people do this thing, they always say no and then a couple of years later, 'Well, maybe one more time.'" [1:32 - 1:59]

Teddy Long also seemingly agreed and said that he could return if the price was right.

"That's right. Everybody's got a price." [1:59 - 2:04]

Teddy Long urges Sting to stay out of the ring

Once the news of Sting's new deal with AEW broke out, this led to many speculations about his future. Many people have commented on whether The Icon should return to the ring.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws with Mac Davis, Teddy Long said that the WCW legend should take the new deal and stay out of the ring.

"Sting needs to just take that deal and make these appearances and keep doing what he's doing and stay out of the ring, man. Enjoy the rest of your life." [2:20 - 2:32]

It remains to be seen whether Sting will return to the wrestling ring once again for another match in the future.
