AEW officially acknowledges Bryan Danielson's retirement despite a shocking ending
AEW acknowledged Bryan Danielson's retirement after he lost the World Title at WrestleDream 2024. The ending of the show was shocking.
Bryan Danielson put his AEW World Championship on the line against Jon Moxley in the main event of WrestleDream 2024. To conclude a brutal back-and-forth encounter, Moxley made Danielson pass out. The Purveyor of Violence became a four-time All Elite Wrestling World Champion in the process. Fans in Tacoma, Washington, were in disbelief at the contest's result.
Following his win, Moxley and his group continued to attack Danielson before Wheeler Yuta and Darby Allin came out for the save. However, Yuta surprisingly turned his back on The American Dragon. Yuta choked his mentor out with a plastic bag, and Claudio Castagnoli assaulted the veteran with a steel chair.
Danielson previously hinted that he would retire from full-time wrestling after his title loss. Hence, fans were shocked when Moxley dethroned The American Dragon. Amid much speculation about the veteran's future, AEW's X handle shared the following hashtag to confirm his retirement:
"#ThankYouBryan," the post read.
Fans in the arena were also chanting "Thank you, Bryan" to pay tribute to one of the greatest wrestlers of the modern era. Only time will tell what's next for Danielson in pro wrestling.
