AEW original breaks silence after singles win drought on Dynamite reaches 285+ day mark
A former AEW champion shared a message after losing another match on Dynamite. Sammy Guevara hasn't picked up a victory in a singles bout on the promotion's flagship show for more than nine months.
The Spanish God was absent from AEW for most of the year. He was suspended for not following concussion protocols in a match against Jeff Hardy. He returned to ROH to team up with Dustin Rhodes and is currently holding the company's tag team championship alongside the latter. However, he hasn't had success on Dynamite for a few months.
Sammy Guevara hasn't won a singles match on Dynamite since January 10, 2024, when he defeated Ricky Starks. His recent losses were against Ricochet and Shelton Benjamin. Despite performing well, he fell short against the new AEW arrivals.
Following the series of heartbreaking defeats on the flagship show for over 285 days, the former TNT Champion claimed that these minor setbacks would lead to a big payoff in the future.
"There is so much that is greater than us, whatever you believe. So while we get to choose the roads we take, we don’t get to know where they lead. when your plan fails, or your road dead ends, it means a bigger plan is at work. And I’d rather be part of a big plan than a small one. #Destiny," Sammy wrote.
AEW star Sammy Guevara was medically cleared after a recent injury scare
The Spanish God was knocked out during a match against Serpentico on ROH tapings ahead of Dynamite's fifth-anniversary show. He left the arena on a stretcher.
Recently, a report claimed the former TNT Champion has been cleared to wrestle after sustaining a concussion. His match on the latest episode of Dynamite was the first one since being cleared.
It will be interesting to see how Sammy Guevara starts his road to redemption.
