AEW personality confirms he was not approached for Vince McMahon's Netflix documentary - "I never got a call"
A major AEW name has confirmed that he wasn't approached to be featured in the "Mr. McMahon" Netflix docuseries. The name in question is none other than Jim Ross.
The "Mr. McMahon" docuseries premiered last week and it covered the journey of Vince McMahon turning the WWE into a Global Sports Entertainment Juggernaut. The Boss' recent controversies were also slightly viewed, however, there were some notable names missing from the docuseries. One of them was Jim Ross. JR is considered to be the voice of the Attitude Era and has spent more than 20 years in the Stamford-based promotion.
In a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, the current AEW commentator revealed that he wasn't approached by Barry Bloom for an interview. Jim Ross said that he had everything the producers were looking for and explained how working with Vince McMahon was an adventure.
"When I heard about it being made, I suspected my agent Barry Bloom would have something in that space. They never approached us. Bill Simmons's crew never approached us. I'm not sure I would have done it anyway. It depends on what they were looking for. I've got everything they would be looking for. Sensationalism, all these things. Working for Vince was an adventure. Following him around was a sprint. I would have had to think about it, but nonetheless, I never got a call on it to see if I was interested." [H/T: Fightful]
Vince Russo is not surprised by AEW commentator Jim Ross' absence from the "Mr. McMahon" docuseries
The Mr. McMahon docuseries featured the interviews of many top names like Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, The Undertaker, and more. However, some notable names like Mick Foley and Jim Ross were missing from the docuseries.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Vince Russo said that he's not surprised to see Jim Ross not being interviewed for the docuseries as he's currently signed to AEW.
"I don't think 'Taker got enough love and I'm surprised Mick [Foley] was not a part of this documentary," Russo said. "I'm not surprised Jim Ross is not a part of the doc. I wasn't surprised about that. Obviously he's in AEW now. That doesn't surprise me. I'm surprised Mick wasn't in the doc."
Jim Ross has openly stated that he knows many secrets about Vince McMahon as they have worked closely with each other for years in the WWE.
