AEW President Tony Khan officially announces huge Texas Death Match between heated rivals for upcoming event

AEW's next pay-per-view, All In, will take place next month at Wembley Stadium in London. Before that, however, Tony Khan's promotions have a multi-show residency in Arlington, TX, and ROH Death Before Dishonor 2024 is a part of that.

Diamante and 'Legit' Leyla Hirsch have been in a heated rivalry for the last several weeks. The former defeated Hirsch in a Lights Out match on Honor Club this week, bringing their record to 1-1. Now, Tony Khan has decided to settle the matter at Death Before Dishonor.

The All Elite President took to X (fka Twitter) today to announce that Diamante and Hirsch will face off once more next Friday, July 26, at Death Before Dishonor 2024. The two will compete in a Texas Death Match.

"After Thursday's brutal Lights Out fight made the tally 1-1, the score between Diamanté/Leyla Hirsch will be settled at ROH Death Before Dishonor in a TEXAS DEATH MATCH," wrote Khan.

You can check out his announcement in the post below:

A Texas Death Match seems appropriate to settle the score between these two, especially since Death Before Dishonor will be hosted at the Esports Arena in Arlington, TX, as part of AEW Collision's short-term residency deal with the city.

AEW and ROH are building multiple storylines for their respective pay-per-views

AEW All In only has a few matches announced thus far, but it's already looking to be a stacked card at Wembley Stadium this year. The World Championship scene is set for both the men's and women's divisions, with the winners of this year's Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Mariah May and Bryan Danielson, scheduled to face champions Toni Storm and Swerve Strickland, respectively.

Meanwhile, ROH has multiple championship bouts lined up for next week's Death Before Dishonor. Here is the current card:

  • Texas Death Match: Diamanté vs. Leyla Hirsch
  • ROH Women's World Television Championship: Billie Starkz (c) vs. Red Velvet
  • ROH Women's World Championship: Athena (c) vs. Queen Aminata
  • ROH World Championship: Mark Briscoe (c) vs. Roderick Strong

There's been speculation that Dalton Castle was supposed to face Mark Briscoe for the ROH World Championship at the event, but he was unfortunately injured in a match against Roderick Strong on last week's AEW Collision. That's landed Strong in the position of challenger, but whether he can defeat Briscoe for the gold remains to be seen.
