AEW President Tony Khan opens up on the possibility of him stepping into the ring
When Tony Khan last stepped into a wrestling ring, it didn't go too well for him. The AEW President has now revealed whether he ever plans to compete in the squared circle.
While it's uncommon, several promoters have entered the ring to compete in the past. The most famous of them is Vince McMahon, who wrestled dozens of matches between 1998 and 2022. However, Tony Khan's last in-ring outing resulted in a neck injury, and he doesn't seem too keen to revisit that.
In April of this year, Khan was invited to the ring by the returning Jack Perry. The two gave fans a moving reunion as they embraced, but it turned out to be a ruse by The Scapegoat. Perry ended up punching his boss, and The Young Bucks followed up with a Meltzer Driver, which they later renamed the TK Driver in his honor.
Khan sported a neck brace for weeks after the incident. In a recent appearance on the Levack and Goz show, the All Elite Chief confirmed that he had no interest in getting into the ring again:
"I still don't think that's in the cards, but a lot of the best wrestlers in the world right now, [are] in AEW, and I think the best wrestling and where the best wrestle is our tagline, and I want to keep it that way and keep myself out of the ring." [H/T: Wrestle Ops]
Former AEW star claims Tony Khan threatened him
The majority of current and former AEW stars have been complimentary regarding Tony Khan, with his biggest criticism usually being that he's too nice. However, Jake Hager doesn't seem to be a fan of his former boss.
In a rant on X (fka Twitter) last week, the former AEW star claimed that Khan had demanded that he stop promoting Donald Trump. He also called the All Elite Chief a communist.
The now-deleted string of tweets was capped off with the claim that Tony Khan had threatened him to remain silent.
"Do u want proof that @TonyKhan is a communist and threatened me to be silent or else?" he wrote.
Hager's rant resulted in Blitzkrieg! Pro Wrestling dropping him from an upcoming show. The former WWE Superstar hasn't followed up since deleting the tweets, but it seems there's no love lost between him and the AEW President.
