AEW's 2024 debutant Bobby Lashley is already talking about retirement plans
Bobby Lashley made his AEW debut on October 30 at Fright Night Dynamite, and it looks like he is already talking about his retirement plans. Fans will no doubt be worried about these comments.
The former WWE star made his AEW in-ring debut on the November 20 episode of Dynamite and had his first big match at the Full Gear pay-per-view, where he successfully defeated Swerve Strickland. He has staked his claim since then and is now, courtesy of that win, a main event star.
However, despite all that, he is not getting any younger. He spoke to Denise Salcedo at the AEW All In Texas Countdown and revealed how he wants to go out with a bang and end his career in All Elite Wrestling.
“I want to go out with a bang. Everybody says that they want to end their career in a certain way, and that’s what I want to do, I want to end my career here in AEW, but one thing I want to be able to do is I want to be able to blow and show the Hurt Syndicate, what we are able to do when we get that opportunity.”
Bobby Lashley continued:
“But then again, what I want to do is I wanna be able to help out some of these guys here. When I had an opportunity to come and meet some of the guys at AEW, there are some amazing talent wrestlers out there, so what I want to do is I want to have some storylines with some of those guys, I want to wrestle some matches that people didn’t really think of when I moved over, I want to do some of those matches that are like ‘I didn’t know that I really needed that match, but I love the fact that I got it’, so that’s what I want.” [H/T Wrestle Talk]
Bobby Lashley wants to give back to Tony Khan
In the same interview, Bobby Lashley spoke about wanting to do big things for AEW and also, in the process, give back to Tony Khan.
“I want to be able to do some big things for AEW, promote the brand, give back to Tony, give back to a lot of the wrestlers, because when I first started in wrestling there was a lot people that helped mold my career, build my career, and I want to be able to give that back to some of these younger guys,” he said.
It will be interesting to see what plans Tony Khan has for Bobby Lashley as he looks set to make his mark in AEW.
