Popular AEW star credits LeBron James and John Cena for influencing the way they treat their body
Bryan Danielson went from WrestleMania main eventer to AEW All Out debutant in 2021. The change of employment also brought about a change in work rate as The American Dragon returned to the less-restricted pro wrestling world outside WWE's bubble.
Danielson has previously admitted that a primary reason for his signing with AEW was the less intense work schedule. At 40 years old, he is now entering that career stage where a wrestler ponders his future.
That was the topic of conversation when Bryan spoke with Wrestling Observer Radio. On the topic of staying healthy, the former WWE Champion credited Tom Brady and LeBron James for inspiring him to invest in his health and fitness:
"Tom Brady, the work he’s put in. LeBron James, he came out and said he spends a million dollars on his body every year just so he can continue to play basketball at the highest level. That was a light switch that went off in my head because I’m a frugal human being who doesn’t like to spend money on anything and almost considered it a point of pride. When I heard him say that, it made so much sense to me." (H/T Fightful)
Bryan further described something that his WWE rival-turned-Hollywood heavyweight had said, and how he applied it to himself and the way he views investing in his body:
"John Cena had mentioned, not to me, he just said it, he got the bus, not because ‘I’m a superstar, I should be in a bus.’ He got it so he could sleep better because that was the only way he could continue doing what he does. I, in no way, shape, or form need a bus, but spending money on my body is something that I only recently, the last year and a half, two years, is something that I really invested in." (H/T Fightful)
William Regal made his AEW debut to bring Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley together
Bryan looked set to fail in successfully headhunting Jon Moxley at AEW Revolution. After Moxley's upset victory, the two continued to brawl, even throwing off the army of referees that came to break it up.
But just as their potential alliance looked dead in the water, former NXT GM William Regal made his debut to split the two up and subsequently slap the sense into them.
Regal was ringside for the pair's first outing on AEW Dynamite against the Workhorsemen last week. Following their convincing win, Regal made his own decree as to why he had joined both the promotion and sided with Bryan and Mox.
Regal promised the entire AEW roster than anyone who doesn't "step up" will be "stepped on". He is also being advertised to accompany Bryan and Mox against Wheeler Yuta and Chuck Taylor at this week's St. Patrick's Day Slam edition of Dynamite.
