AEW's Thunder Rosa says major star unexpectedly choosing WWE has "really upset a lot of people"

Thunder Rosa recently commented on Stephanie Vaquer surprisingly choosing WWE over AEW. She said that the latter's decision has angered a lot of fans.

Not too long ago, it was reported that La Primera had received offers from both WWE and AEW. Fans recently found out that she has signed a contract with WWE after parting ways with CMLL and NJPW.

The 31-year-old star was a part of the Forbidden Door 2024 event where she lost her NJPW Strong Women's Title to TBS Champion Mercedes Mone. Vaquer put on a great performance and the fans were eager to see more of her on AEW TV.

Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Thuder Rosa commented on Stephanie Vaquer's decision to jump ship to WWE over AEW.

"I was not even expecting that. I didn't even know that was happening and I think a lot of people were kind of caught by surprise. It's been a roller coaster of comments and emotions from fans and other people... She is a great talent as you guys saw recently here in AEW. I think everything happened so fast because she was presented at AEW on a humongous platform and then she had a match with Mercedes Mone then next week she like signed with WWE."

She continued:

"So that really upset a lot of people but one thing that we have to make sure and everybody understands [is that] we're never going to know what really happened backstage or the talks that people had before this happened and what was the situation. I think a lot of people are very upset that she left. I think some of the comments that I read was that she had no loyalty to the company, that that was messed up the decision that she made."
