AEW sends a rare message to Miro (FKA Rusev) after reportedly rejecting his release request
Miro requesting his release from AEW has caused quite a buzz lately. His contract is set to expire in the spring of 2026. Several reports have indicated that his request has not been accepted. Amid all that, the company has sent a message to the star on social media.
Despite being one of the bigger names on the Jacksonville-based company's roster, Miro has been rarely used on screen. His last match was around a year ago, at the Worlds End event in 2023, when he took down Andrade El Idolo in a singles match. Since then, he has been absent.
Despite fans believing that there is tension in the locker room regarding the former WWE star, AEW's X (Twitter) account recently wished him a happy birthday. The erstwhile Rusev is celebrating his 39th birthday today.
"Happy Birthday, @ToBeMiro!" the post read.

Possible reason why Tony Khan may refuse Miro's request for release from AEW
According to WrestleVotes, AEW President Tony Khan may deny Miro's request for release because of the former TNT Champion's star power, which would pose a problem if the erstwhile Rusev joins WWE afterward.
In an exclusive Q&A with WrestleVotes, conducted by Joe Lowry, the journalist explained his thoughts on the situation.
"Umm no, I don't... Over the last what's it been, a month or so, we've got three occurrences where they're not playing nice towards each other. With Lucha Brothers stuff is what it is, and then the Nigel footage that they showed, and WWE decided to take it down, and now Miro, you know. If I'm Tony Khan, and Miro says to me, 'I don't wanna be here anymore,' you know, I'll simply tell him, 'You signed a contract; I can't under good faith just let you walk to the competition.'" As of now, it remains to be seen what is next for Miro down the line and if he will appear on TV soon.
