AEW star Adam Cole breaks silence after being cheated out of match with MJF; drops huge tease for future
Adam Cole won't wrestle against MJF at Full Gear 2024 this weekend. Instead, his Undisputed Kingdom stablemate Roderick Strong will take on his nemesis at the upcoming event.
Cole and Strong had to win three consecutive matches to earn themselves a match against The Wolf of Wrestling at Full Gear. At Dynamite last week, Strong completed his set of challenges by defeating Lance Archer in his third match.
Meanwhile, Adam Cole lost to Konosuke Takeshita, who used unfair means to win the match. The AEW International Champion knocked out The Panama City Playboy with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, which MJF gave as a payment to Don Callis for taking care of Cole.
Adam Cole recently appeared for a virtual interview on The Danny Ocean Show and said he was sad he couldn't be a part of the Full Gear match card. But he was glad that his stablemate would get the chance to get his hands on MJF. He even teased being present at the event to watch their match.
He responded, "Yeah, so obviously, truth be told, I'm a little bit bummed that I'm not in there with Roddy to teach MJF, you know, a lesson, but I figure if it can't be me, my best friend Roderick Strong doing the deed, is the next best thing. So definitely a little bummed, and I'll be there. I've gotta be there to have a front-row seat to watch Roddy smash MJF. But yeah, unfortunately not on the card." [From 1:25 to 1:50]
Adam Cole was determined to return to the ring
In an interview with PennLive.com, Adam Cole revealed details about his recovery journey and the emotional battles that came along with it. He stated that giving up on wrestling due to his injury never crossed his mind.
“I just mentally was not at a place at all where I was ready to accept that. I love this so, so much. Through the concussion and through the ankle, there was never a point where I thought, ‘maybe I should stop.’ I was so determined and so focused to say, ‘No, no, I’ve got to get back out there. I’ve got to do what I love to do for a little while longer.’ I definitely never for a second thought, ‘Okay, this is it.’ I thought, ‘How do I get back?’” he said.
Adam Cole was out of action for almost one year due to an ankle injury he suffered. Although he appeared on TV despite being injured, he wasn't cleared to step inside the ring.
