AEW star breaks silence after title win in major promotion; namedrops Triple H’s latest WWE signee
A top AEW star has sent a message after winning a major title outside the Tony Khan-led promotion. They also mentioned a performer who recently joined the Triple H-run WWE.
The AEW star in question is none other than Willow Nightingale. After her recent loss against Mariah May in the 2024 Owen Hart Cup finals, Nightingale competed at NJPW x CMLL Fantastica Mania 2024, defeating Lluvia and Viva Van to win the vacant CMLL World Women's Championship. Stephanie Vaquer recently vacated the coveted title before Triple H signed her to WWE.
In her post-match promo, Willow Nightingale opened up about her massive title win, recalling how she defeated Vaquer the last time she wrestled in the Mexican promotion.
"Last time I wrestled in CMLL, was actually also my first weekend in CMLL, but you wanna know what happened when I showed up? I freakin' won. I beat current CMLL women's champ at that point, Stephanie Vaquer. Stephanie is not here, championship is vacant. Who's gonna step up? No one else other than Willow Nightingale. My spirit was broken you know? AEW, my friend turned on me, I just lost my last match, I really needed to win, and today I didn't just win, I walked out an international champion," Willow Nightingale said. [0:03 - 0:50]
Triple H's new signee made her WWE in-ring debut
Stephanie Vaquer made her WWE in-ring debut just days after signing with the global juggernaut. Vaquer appeared at a recent live event in Mexico City and made a statement by defeating one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions, Isla Dawn.
Well, it's clear that WWE is quite impressed with Stephanie Vaquer, as she defeated a current champion in her in-ring debut. Only time will tell when Triple H will book her to make her first TV appearance for the promotion.
