AEW star Bryan Danielson is very disappointed over alleged disrespect
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Bryan Danielson is set to face Shingo Takagi at Forbidden Door 2024 in the quarterfinal of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Ahead of his showdown with Takagi, the 43-year-old cut an intense promo to set the ball rolling.
The June 26, 2024, episode of Dynamite saw the Blackpool Combat Club members (Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli) lock horns with Los Ingobernables de Japon (Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi, and Titan). The match ended in a disqualification after Jon Moxley used a steel chair in the middle of the ring. However, BCC member Wheeler Yuta was on the receiving end of a vicious attack from Shingo. Takagi kept attacking Yuta until Bryan Danielson ran to the ring.
Later, during an exclusive interview with AEW, The American Dragon cut an intense promo. The former WWE Superstar recalled being initially excited to lock horns with Shingo Takagi in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament quarterfinal. However, Bryan added that he had lost respect for Takagi after the latter's vicious attack on Wheeler Yuta last night.
The former WWE Champion stated that the past year had not gone as planned, and he was tired of seeing Takagi disrespect him and his loved ones. Danielson also revealed that he was tired of letting his family and fans down after losing big matches and vowed to set the record straight against Takagi at Forbidden Door 2024.
"Guess what? 'This Bryan Danielson is just gonna go out there and be happy to just compete and wants to wrestle with the best wrestlers!' That's not the guy you are seeing this Sunday. Shingo! I am tired of it. I am tired of all of it. I am tired of disrespect. I am tired of you trying to hurt the people that I love. And you know what else I am tired of? I am tired of losing. I am tired of disappointing my fans and disappointing my family. Disappointing myself. Sunday, Forbidden Door, that ain't gonna happen. And Shingo, you'll get the worst of me," he said. [1:52 - 2:32]
Nigel McGuinness says Bryan Danielson winning the World Championship would be his worst nightmare
Bryan Danielson has had a storied career, and his feud with Nigel McGuinness in ROH is the stuff of legends. Fans have been clamoring for a match between the two since Guinness joined AEW as a commentator, but that hasn't happened yet.
However, with Danielson signing for the Owen Hart Tournament and the probability of him contesting for the World Championship at AEW All In increasing, McGuinness recently claimed during an episode of Collision that if The American Dragon wins the World Title at Wembley Stadium, it would be his nightmare.
“Bryan Danielson has already declared for the Owen. His dream is to go to Wembley Stadium and win the AEW World Title. Let me make this perfectly clear. His dream is my nightmare,” he said. [H/T: X/Drainmaker]
