AEW star claims he helped Jey Uso get the "Yeet" trademark; Cody Rhodes' involvement revealed
Jey Uso has the trademark for his famous catchphrase "yeet". However, it was an AEW name that helped him get the trademark.
QT Marshall helped Jey Uso secure the trademark for "yeet". Yeet has become a part of Jey Uso's gimmick ever since his time in the Bloodline. It is also all over his merchandise. However, WWE was about to remove Yeeting from his gimmick in December 2023 after they found out that an Indie wrestler Kassey Huffman filed a trademark for the word back in 2021. The Stamford-based promotion even had to remove the t-shirts that contained the word from their online stores.
Fortunately, the issue got resolved quickly and Jey Uso was able to yeet again. Speaking on the Gabby AF podcast, QT Marshall said he knew the wrestler who owned the trademark and hence, was able to help Jey get it:
“I saw that they had the t-shirt up and then it was gone. I reached out to Cody and I said, ‘Hey, I know the kid that owns the word.’ He was like, ‘You think you can get in touch with him?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll call him right now.’ I don’t know how it happened, I got that kid, I spoke to him, I told Cody we’re in a little group chat. Within a day or two, Jey Uso had it. I’m not saying it was because of me.” [H/T Fightful]
AEW star QT Marshall reacted to rumors of CM Punk ruining his relationship with Tony Khan
Earlier this year, QT Marshall said that it was CM Punk's idea to remove him from AEW Collision since he didn't want to be Powerhouse Hobbs' manager. This led to rumors that Punk ruined Marshall's relationship with Tony Khan.
During the same podcast episode, the AEW star said that the rumors about Punk's issue with him were not true:
“One, there was a huge misconception that him and I didn’t get along, that he put a wedge between Tony and I. I don’t think that was the case because we actually spoke in Newark at the Prudential Center and when I first heard about the fact that there was an issue, I went right to the source and I spoke to him like a man and he listened to me like a man. We had another person in there, just in case, just so we could talk because I always felt like it’s easier just to do that. We both realized like, oh, he doesn’t want me with Will Hobbs because he saw more for Will, and I didn’t want to be with Will as his manager because I didn’t want to be a manager. That was the end of it, right?" he stated.
QT Marshall currently works in AEW as Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination.
