AEW star confirms CM Punk requested Tony Khan to wrestle him - "He literally asked my boss for it"

CM Punk wrestled in AEW for a couple of years. During this time, he wrestled some of the top stars in the company including one popular heel in particular.

QT Marshall first started his All Elite career as part of the Nightmare Family where he formed a tag team with Dustin Rhodes. However, he soon turned heel on Dustin.

Sometime after, QT had the biggest match of his career against CM Punk in the latter's hometown of Chicago on the Thanksgiving Even episode of Dynamite in 2021. The match lasted 11 minutes and the Straight Edge star picked up the win.

Recently a fan posted on social media that there was no way that Punk wanted to face QT Marshall on that night. QT responded to the fan saying that the Straight Edge Superstar himself requested Tony Khan for the match:

"He literally asked my boss for it. “I’d like to wrestle a bad guy in my hometown who won’t go into business for himself and try and get over with the audience.”"

QT Marshall is set to compete at AEW Full Gear 2024

QT Marshall hasn't competed in a televised AEW match since his August 2023 bout against Gravity. Since then returning to the promotion after a brief exit, Marshall has settled into a backstage role as Vice President of Show and Creative Coordination. However, that will change soon.

QT Marshall was instrumental in signing Big Boom A.J. of The Costco Guys to an AEW contract. A.J. is now set to make his debut in the ring and his opponent will be QT. The two men teased a bout during A.J.'s contract signing but now the match has been made official for Full Gear 2024 on the Zero Hour show.

It will be interesting to see if QT Marshall will be able to win his first televised match of the year in All Elite Wrestling.
