AEW star Dustin Rhodes shares a message for WWE Hall of Famer after major title win
55-year-old AEW star Dustin Rhodes has been performing in the squared for more than three and a half decades. He belongs to a family whose heart beats wrestling. His father was the legendary three-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes. Furthermore, his half-brother, Cody Rhodes, is currently signed to the WWE, where he holds the prestigious Undisputed WWE Championship.
Dustin Rhodes has won numerous titles throughout his career. He currently holds the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with Marshall Von Erich and Ross Von Erich, which they procured at AEW Battle of the Belts XI. Marshall Von Erich and Ross Von Erich are sons of Kevin Von Erich, a celebrated retired wrestler from Texas. Just like the Rhodes family, the Von Erichs are also famous in the world of pro wrestling. Furthermore, the 2023 film, The Iron Claw is based on them.
Kevin Von Erich was present ringside when his sons and Dustin Rhodes won the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. The former seven-time WWF Hardcore Champion recently posted a heartfelt message for the 67-year-old on his X/Twitter handle.
"My respect for this man and his family, World Class Championship Wrestling , runs deep in my blood. I am so honored to be with @MarshallVonEric and @RossVonErich and you, and we brought gold back to Texas!!! Love you Legend!! #KevinVonErich."
Dustin Rhodes called his ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship win "very special"
After winning the aforementioned title on AEW Battle of the Belts XI, an emotional Rhodes delivered a promo where he described winning the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship with the Von Erichs as surreal.
This a surreal moment for me. I'm 55 years old. And I've been doing this a long long time. 36 years. And I can, I promise you this, from the bottom of my heart I can say this becuase, I had no idea man. This is very special," said Rhodes. [0:04 - 0:40]
During his time in the WWE, Rhodes was known as Goldust.
