AEW star falls victim to identity theft in shocking twist
A high-stakes match on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite saw a shocking twist. Amidst an ongoing feud, a top star on the roster fell victim to identity theft by his new rival.
During the January 8 edition of Dynamite, the Casino Gauntlet match was scheduled. The winner of the bout would receive a World Championship match shot against the reigning title holder, Jon Moxley, at Maximum Carnage.
The match saw the first three participants, Jay White, 'Hangman' Adam Page, and Wheeler Yuta, in a hard-fought battle. Soon, the fourth participant Swerve Strickland's music was about to hit, but a surprising twist was revealed a moment later.
Swerve's entrance theme quickly changed to Ricochet's, and The One and Only was revealed as the fourth entrant in the Casion Gauntlet match. This was a mockery by Ricochet toward Strickland, with whom he had ignited a rivalry last week on AEW Dynamite.
On last week's show, during a triple threat match to determine the #1 spot for the Casino Gauntlet, Ricochet stabbed Swerve Strickland with scissors. This led to the former AEW World Champion being left in a pool of his blood while Ricochet showed his vicious side to the fans.
With Ricochet taking another shot at Swerve, this rivalry seems to be picking up, and a potential match is in store for the future.
