AEW star left unconscious following his match with MJF, doctor rushes to check on him
A top AEW star was left unconscious after his battle with MJF on the latest episode of Dynamite, forcing doctors to check on him in the ring. The talent in question is Kyle Fletcher.
The August 7, 2024, edition of Dynamite emanated from the LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The show opened with an AEW American Championship Eliminator Match between MJF and Kyle Fletcher. The bout was made official last week when The Protostar challenged Friedman after thwarting the latter's assault on his long-time ally, Will Ospreay.
The Wolf of Wrestling found a worthy competitor in Fletcher, who brought the fight to MJF despite the latter's trash-talk and underhanded in-ring strategies. The Don Callis Family member mounted an impressive offense against the New York native by executing several high-flying, high-octane moves on Friedman.
Towards the end of the hard-hitting contest, Don Callis tossed a screwdriver for Fletcher to use against Friedman, but the Australian star refused to cheat. The temporary distraction allowed MJF to hit Fletcher with a low blow before eventually delivering a Kangaroo Kick and finally a Brainbuster for the win.
After the bout, Friedman knocked out the referee with his American Title, and bloodied Fletcher with his Dynamite Diamond ring, eventually threatening to hit him with a Tiger Driver 91 before Will Ospreay made the save for his friend. Doctors rushed into the ring afterward to check on the 25-year-old star as Callis and Ospreay continued to argue.
It remains to be seen whether MJF can retain the American Championship against The Aerial Assassin at AEW All In 2024.
