AEW star legitimately injured, written off TV using Orange Cassidy's unhinged attack - Reports
An AEW star has suffered some legitimate injuries. Recently, the creative wrote him off TV using Orange Cassidy.
Trent Beretta was always a promising prospect right from his days in NJPW. His in-ring skills helped him get over with the fans. While he was a successful and popular tag team wrestler, he has yet to make the same impact as a singles competitor.
Beretta is currently enjoying a singles run after turning on his Best Friends stablemates Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy. Since turning heel, Trent has wasted no opportunity to attack Cassidy. The two of them even had a match at AEW Double or Nothing 2024 which was won by the former AEW International Champion. Since this loss, Trent was rarely seen on television.
This week on AEW Collision, he interfered in Cassidy's match. Following the bout, Cassidy hit his former stablemate from behind with a wrench. Fightful Select recently revealed that Trent Beretta has been dealing with injuries since AEW Double or Nothing and this angle was done to write him off television for a while.
Willow Nightingale wants to form a new tag team with Orange Cassidy
It wasn't just Trent Beretta who betrayed Orange Cassidy. Kris Statlander also turned her back on him and slapped him a couple of weeks ago. This marked the official end of their friendship. Statlander had also betrayed Willow Nightingale prior to Cassidy.
Recently, while speaking on WGN Radio, Nightingale revealed that she was open to the idea of forming a tag team with Cassidy.
"I mean, we're both people who have good hearts. He may be a little more 'whatever' about situations, but when he has passion about something, he has passion about something, and we were both back backstabbed by people we trust. So we found common ground in that, and I've known him for a while. You know, he was on the same scene that I was in before AEW, but this is something that kind of relinked us together. it would be cool to share the ring. I would love that. But we'll see. we'll see what happens. Like I said, go with the flow. We'll see what happens week by week." [H/T: Fightful]

It will be interesting to see whether Cassidy and Nightingale actually form a tag team in the future.
