AEW star makes an unexpected return following Chris Jericho’s successful title defense

A top AEW star made his shocking return following Chris Jericho's successful championship defense on tonight's Dynamite. The talent in question is Katsuyori Shibata.

The July 24, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts featured a blockbuster title match between Minoru Suzuki and Chris Jericho for the latter's FTW Championship. The bout was made official during last week's episode when The King of Pro Wrestling made his return to the Wednesday-night flagship show to inform The Learning Tree about the match.

Jericho and Suzuki faced off in a hard-hitting match in the Bridgestone Arena, chopping each other to the point where the first-ever AEW World Champion bled profusely from his chest. However, Jericho managed to pick up the win in controversial fashion after delivering a low blow to Suzuki and then hitting him with the Judas Effect.

The Japanese legend took exception to Jericho's underhanded means and locked him in a sleeper hold after the bout before hitting him with a piledriver. Unfortunately, Suzuki would promptly be assaulted by The Lionheart's stable-mates Big Bill and Bryan Keith, who had been banned from ringside during the FTW Title match.

However, Katsuyori Shibata would then make his return to Dynamite by helping Suzuki fight off the heels. The Wrestler rattled Keith with a knee, earning a measure of revenge against The Bad Apple for injuring his arm on the Beach Break edition of Dynamite earlier this month.

It remains to be seen whether the rivalry between The Learning Tree and Shibata and Suzuki will continue moving forward.
