AEW star opens up about regrettable spot during career-altering feud

An AEW star has opened up about a regrettable spot during a career-altering feud. The star in question is none other than Darby Allin.

Allin is known for being involved in dangerous matches that make your heart skip a beat. He does not back down from putting himself in bad situations. However, there was one instance where even he felt uncomfortable.

The match Darby discussed took place at Double or Nothing 2024, where Team AEW took on The Elite in an Anarchy In The Arena match. He had just got back into the ring after suffering an accident.

Darby was speaking on AEW Meal & Match with Renee Paquette and RJ City when he revealed:

“That night was a good example because if anybody knows, I was being held upside down, and my nose wasn't fully recovered after getting hit by a bus. So, I took the face mask off in the match, and then, next spot, we were hanging upside down, and I got superkicked with thumbtacks glued to the bottom of their shoes, and it busts my nose open. I was upside down. Blood was spraying everywhere. I broke my nose again,” Allin said. [10:23 - 10:51]

Darby Allin reveals what Sting told him after his AEW retirement

Sting retired from wrestling at Revolution 2024, during which he and Darby Allin successfully defended their AEW Tag Team Championship against the Young Bucks.

It was a great match, and there were a lot of jaw-dropping spots. Darby Allin, who went through the glass during the bout, has now revealed what Sting told him after the match. He was speaking on Q1057 and 1035 when he said:

“He came up to me after the match and said, ‘Easily top three favorite matches of my whole career.’ I thought, ‘Yep, that’s all I wanted to hear at the end of the night.’ I had a huge hole in my side because I jumped through glass and got sliced open. I was just like, ‘I’m alive, things are good—let’s go to the hospital!'” Allin said.

Since Sting's retirement, Darby has been on his own, feuding against The Elite and The Death Riders (FKA Blackpool Combat Club).
