AEW star Scorpio Sky decides whether he will carry two TNT Championship belts during his reign
Scorpio Sky made numerous headlines during the latest episode of AEW Dynamite by dethroning Sammy Guevara in the main event to become the new TNT Champion. One of the biggest questions left hanging after Sky won the title was whether he would carry the two belts moving forward.
Since January 26 of this year, Guevara (as interim TNT Champion) had held two titles, courtesy of his winner-takes-all ladder match victory over then-TNT Champion Cody Rhodes.
In a tweet posted a few days ago, Sky clarified that he would carry only one TNT Championship to embark on his first reign. The 38-year-old added that he had gifted the other title to his on-screen manager Dan Lambert so that he could put it alongside other impressive accolades at the ATT academy.
"I will only be carrying one TNT title from now on as I’ve gifted the other to Dan Lambert to put front and center at ATT surrounded by the countless championships won in the UFC, Bellator, and all the other major promotions. Watch #AEWRampage tonight on MY network, @tntdrama," Sky tweeted.
On Wednesday night, Sky put his 364-day undefeated singles streak on the line against The Spanish God. The two men left no stone unturned in pushing each other to their limits that night.
In the end, Lambert distracted the referee, thus allowing Paige VanZant to ambush Guevara's real-life girlfriend, Tay Conti at ringside. A distracted Sammy Guevara then became the victim of Sky's TKO finishing maneuver.
The former Inner Circle member's crushing loss meant that his second TNT Championship reign ended abruptly at 42 days.
Scorpio Sky will defend his TNT title against Wardlow on AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick's Day Slam
Scorpio Sky might not be able to flaunt his TNT Championship much longer, as he is set to defend it next week. On the St. Patrick's Day Slam episode of AEW Dynamite, Sky will put the gold on the line against Wardlow.
Mr. Mayhem recently won the Face of the Revolution ladder match at AEW Revolution to earn his shot at the title. It will be interesting to see whether Wardlow ends Sky's fairytale run next Wednesday night.
