AEW star shockingly leaves The Don Callis Family

A top AEW star has made his exit from The Don Callis Family. The talent in question is none other than Will Ospreay.

The July 3 Beach Break edition of Dynamite witnessed the fallout to Forbidden Door 2024, which saw Swerve Strickland retain his AEW World Championship in an absolute barnburner against current International Champion Will Ospreay. The Aerial Assassin came within inches of capturing the top prize of the Tony Khan-led promotion but ultimately fell short against The New Flavor.

Ospreay, alongside his ally and friend Kyle Fletcher, was being interviewed backstage by Renee Paquette on Dynamite. The interview would be interrupted by Don Callis, whom Ospreay decided to have a conversation with. The Aerial Assassin claimed responsibility for his loss in his AEW World Title match at Forbidden Door, recalling his inability to deliver the devastating Tiger Driver '91 on Swerve, as well his refusal to use Callis' screwdriver to his advantage when the referee had been knocked out.

Ospreay thanked Callis for his help during his matches against Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho last year but claimed that he was no longer the same competitor he had been in 2023, alluding to his babyface conduct since officially becoming a part of the AEW roster. He then informed The Invisible Hand of his wish to leave The Don Callis Family.

Callis, evidently with some reluctance, acceded to Ospreay's request to leave his faction after praising the latter for his accomplishments. However, he also voiced his intention of asking the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion for a favor in return at some point in the future. Callis would then leave, but not before asking Kyle Fletcher to accompany him.

Ospreay also retained his International Championship against Daniel Garcia later on Dynamite.
