AEW star Toni Storm announces sudden retirement - "This is the last you’ll hear from me"
A former AEW Women's World Champion has surprisingly announced her retirement from wrestling. The star has not been seen on All Elite TV in months.
Toni Storm quickly established herself as a top name in the women's division as soon as she arrived in All Elite Wrestling. The Timeless One changed her gimmick making her one of the most entertaining acts in Tony Khan's company. She even won the Women's World Championship. Storm held the title for an impressive 281 days.
During this time, she took under her wing Mariah May as her protege and guided her until the latter betrayed Storm after she won the Owen Hart Cup. May then challenged her former mentor for the Women's World Championship at All In 2024 and emerged victorious.
This was the last time that Toni Storm was seen on All Elite Wrestling TV. Following this loss, the former WWE Superstar went on to wrestle in Japan and Mexico. She challenged Mayu Iwatani for the IWGP Women's Championship and lost. Storm then locked horns with La Catalina at CMLL Super Viernes and lost again. It looks like she has become fed up with losing.
During a recent interview with SBNation, the former All Elite Women's World Champion announced that she was done with wrestling due to her current losing streak.
“I’m not used to being a loser. I’ve failed at everything. I lost in AEW, I lost in Japan, I lost in Mexico. This is the last you’ll hear from me again. Enjoy Mariah May as your champion. You can all enjoy that. AEW is just fine without me. Everything is going well for AEW. They don’t need Toni Storm,” she said.
It will be interesting to see what will be in store for Toni Storm going forward.
