AEW star Willow Nightingale reacts to comparisons with Mick Foley - "He's one of my favorites of all time" (Exclusive)
Popular AEW star Willow Nightingale has shared her thoughts on being compared with WWE legend Mick Foley. Nightingale said she grew up admiring the Hall of Famer.
Foley was one of the most beloved performers during WWE's Attitude Era, with his feuds against top names like The Rock and Triple H still etched in fans' memories. He shared a kind of connection with the viewers that's impossible to replicate. Now, over two decades later in AEW, Nightingale enjoys a similar level of popularity among fans, who just can't get enough of her joyous personality.
In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, Willow Nightingale commented on being compared with Mick Foley. The former TBS Champion said she greatly admired Foley's ability to be lovable with fans while also not hesitating to explore his tough and unhinged side when it mattered the most.
"I love that comparison because I'm a huge Mick Foley fan. When I first started wrestling, I got a lot of inspiration from his ability to be tough, lovable, and have this unconventional build but still be seen as somebody you could them in the position of being at the top of the card. I drew a lot of inspiration from his being unconventional but still lovable but being tough. Playing all these characters. So he's one of my favorites of all time," said Willow Nightingale. Furthermore, Nightingale recalled that she got to meet Mick Foley for the first time during her first year in the pro wrestling business. The AEW star revealed that her parents bumped into the WWE Hall of Famer at a show where she was wrestling and told him all about how much he had inspired her to take up wrestling.
"And I remember, within my first years of wrestling, he was at a show I was wrestling and my parents went up to him and were like, 'Our daughter, you inspire her so much, she loves you.' And he was like, 'Oh where is she? I would love to meet her.' And they were like, 'Oh, she's in the locker room.' He was like, 'What?' But I was too nervous that I hadn't gone to say hi to him yet," added Nightingale. (2:20 - 2:41)
