AEW and Tony Khan are already making a big mistake with The Hurt Syndicate, notes wrestling legend
The Hurt Syndicate was recently formed in AEW. However, a wrestling veteran believes that Tony Khan is already making a big mistake with them.
Tommy Dreamer is the latest person to comment on The Hurt Syndicate. The group became whole on the 30th December episode of Dynamite after Bobby Lashley made his debut and joined MVP and Shelton Benjamin.
While they have been trying to act like heels with actions, the group has gotten cheered by the fans who have been excited at the thought of having The Hurt Syndicate in AEW. Soon after forming, the stable made an impact as Bobby Lashley defeated Swerve Strickland at AEW Full Gear 2024 in dominant fashion. Since then, MVP has made it clear that they are here to win titles and money. However, Tommy Dreamer feels the company is making one big mistake with the group.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer feels that MVP's group is miscast as heels in AEW as their actions speak differently.
"The Hurt Syndicate are miscast. Hurt Syndicate are babyfaces," Dreamer critiqued. "But here's the other issue: the AEW fans, there's very few heels/babyfaces. You have to do design your heels the way you want and that's why I feel for that moment, we had definitive heels with The Death Riders, and we had definitive babyfaces with Jay [White], Hangman Page, and Orange Cassidy."
Dreamer also compared the group to The Four Horsemen who were strong heels and were often booed by the fans. He also mentioned how the reactions changed based on who they were facing.
"If that's the route [AEW is] going to take, I don't know if it is, but you need your babyfaces super strong and your heels super strong to get people to really," Dreamer added. [H/T: WrestlingInc.]
The Hurt Syndicate's Bobby Lashley reveals what made his sign with AEW
After a year of disappointing booking, Bobby Lashley decided to leave WWE in search of greener pastures. Since then, there have been rumors circulating that The All Mighty was headed to AEW. These rumors became more rampant after MVP and Shelton Benjamin joined the Jacksonville-based promotion. Finally, after weeks of speculation, Lashley arrived at the company on the 30th October episode of Dynamite.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Bobby Lashley said he spoke to Shelton Benjamin and MVP who wanted to reunite The Hurt Business in AEW. And that is what convinced him to join the promotion.
"I was talking to MVP, and I was talking to Shelton, and we were like, let's run this back. Let's run the group back. Let's do it. We have that option. We're all out at this time. So let's see if we can go and do this the right way," he said. [H/T: Insight with Chris Van Vliet]
Bobby Lashley's AEW run is off to a good start with a win over Swerve Strickland. It'll be interesting to see what the future holds for The All Mighty.
