AEW Women's Champion Britt Baker hits out at rival after Rampage attack
AEW Rampage saw the latest chapter of the Britt Baker vs Thunder Rosa rivalry written as Jamie Hayter defeated Mercedes Martinez with help from the women's champ. As Baker, Hayter and Rebel looked set to deliver a stomp onto the title belt, La Mera Mera emerged with a steel chair in-hand to take out the trio, before they narrowly made their escape.
The champion has since addressed their retreat, poking fun at her rival's wardrobe in a social media post. The two are scheduled to clash inside a steel cage at St Patrick's Day Slam, a rematch from their women's title bout at Revolution, and at the same event as their Lights Out match in 2021.
What led to Jamie Hayter vs Mercedes Martinez on AEW Rampage?
As mentioned before, the clash between Jamie Hayter and Mercedes Martinez has been a component of the title feud between Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker. The pair once stood shoulder to shoulder when the women's champ brought the former NXT star in as hired muscle to take out her nemesis.
Martinez and Thunder Rosa clashed after the former cost the latter a shot at the TBS Title. Their first battle ended in DQ when Martinez struck her opponent with a lead pipe, where it was later revealed that Baker had masterminded the whole thing.
They once again went at it in a No DQ match, with Rosa emerging victorious once again, before a show of respect between the foes spelled the end of Martinez's alliance with DMD.
Hayter and Martinez served as partners to Baker and Rosa respectively on the go-home Dynamite ahead of AEW Revolution, where neither were involved with the finish as the challenger pinned the champion in the middle of the ring.
