Another CM Punk-like situation allegedly happened in AEW; current WWE Superstar involved

A current WWE Superstar allegedly experienced an awkward situation in AEW similar to one faced by CM Punk during his time in the Tony Khan-led promotion. The star is none other than Stephanie Vaquer.

La Primera has been a focal point of conversation in the pro-wrestling world following her exit from CMLL and sudden WWE signing. Before this, many fans expected her to head to AEW, especially given the spotlight she enjoyed through her remarkable performance against Mercedes Mone at Forbidden Door 2024. Speculations are currently running amok regarding the possible reasons behind Vaquer choosing to pass on the Jacksonville-based company.

During a recent episode of Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL, one of the co-hosts made a surprising claim. He alleged that Stephanie Vaquer had not been picked up by representatives from All Elite Wrestling from the airport for her appearance at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024.

He compared this situation to a similar one that had arisen when nobody showed up to meet with and accompany CM Punk at the airport before All In 2023.

"I heard that something similar to the CM Punk situation happened with Forbidden Door, that she wasn't picked up from the airport so that she ended up having to get her own way." [19:52 - 20:02]

In response, Konnan, one of the podcast's hosts, suggested that Vaquer may have opted for a deal with the sports entertainment juggernaut instead of with AEW after speaking to Mexican competitors from both promotions.

"Let me just say this: when she got over there, she was told by the Mexicans how that place rolls. And then when she spoke to the Mexicans in WWE, she saw how that place rolled. It's not a hard choice to make." [20:03 - 20:17]

Vaquer recently made her WWE debut on a live show in Mexico City, defeating Women's Tag Team Champion Isla Dawn.

AEW's Thunder Rosa commented on Stephanie Vaquer's WWE signing

Former AEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa recently shared her two cents on Stephanie Vaquer joining WWE.

During an appearance on the Busted Open podcast, La Mera Mera alluded to opinions from fans and several industry analysts who have been critical of the Chilean wrestler's decision but emphasized that it was impossible for individuals not closely involved with the situation to have any reliable knowledge on the discussions and developments which led to Vaquer signing with WWE.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rosa praised Vaquer for her undeniable talent. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the former CMLL World Women's Champion in the Triple H-led company.
