Another not-so-subtle CM Punk reference you probably missed during WWE RAW this week
Amid the rumors of CM Punk's WWE return, another potential hint was given on RAW this past week.
CM Punk is out of the pro wrestling scene, but it's hard to ignore anything related to the Best in the World. He was fired from AEW a few months ago after an alleged backstage altercation. For the past few weeks, the Second City Saint is heavily rumored to make his WWE return after nearly a decade.
Interestingly, the rumors and speculations hint at Punk possibly returning at the upcoming Survivor Series PLE in his hometown, Chicago. Before the event, multiple potential teases relating to Punk have been made in the past few weeks by Superstars such as Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura.
This past Monday on RAW, the crowd took over with "CM Punk" chants, and there were seemingly references as well. During the Fatal Four-Way match between The Miz, Ivar, Bronson Reed, and Ricochet, Wade Barret said something on the commentary that fans on the internet quickly noticed.
He said, "That fire is burning inside The Miz". For those unaware, Punk used a different theme song earlier in his career, called 'This Fire Burns,' before he adopted the 'Cult of Personality' theme song.
While it is unclear whether this was a tease, this is the talk of the town among the wrestling community, and speculations will be running wild.
CM Punk recently addressed his rumored WWE return
During his recent conversation with 670 The Score, CM Punk was asked whether he would be at the upcoming WWE Survivor Series PLE in his hometown, Chicago. Here is what he had to say:
"They're asking if I'm going to be there? I think it's sold out. I think tickets are hard to get. I don't want to burst anybody's bubble. I'm kind of just sitting at home and enjoying this beautiful Chicago weather." [H/T Whatculture]
Henceforth, it remains to be seen if the rumors turn out true and fans eventually witness the most anticipated return this month.
