Athena (fka Ember Moon) finally makes a blockbuster return; but not in AEW

Athena is signed to AEW and regularly wrestles in their sister promotion, Ring of Honor. She is the reigning ROH Women's World Champion, which she has held for more than 660 days.

Athena, who was known as Ember Moon during her WWE run, is a former NXT Women's Champion and a NXT Women's Tag Team Champion. She was signed to the Stamford-based company from 2015, until her release in 2021. The star has been injured since June this year but has refused to relinquish her title. She has yet to return to the ring in ROH but has done so elsewhere.

Recently, the star appeared on an independent wrestling show called Roseland 9. This event was organized by three independent wrestling promotions: Prestige Wrestling, Deadlock Pro, and West Coast Pro. It featured several matches, out of which one saw the former WWE star take on Amira. The match ended with Athena's victory.

Athena wants to return to AEW, however, she is waiting for the perfect time

Even though the 36-year-old has a contract with AEW, she predominantly wrestles in Ring of Honor. In a recent interview with, Stephanie Chase she revealed that she strongly intends to come back to All Elite Wrestling, however, it's important for her to get the timing right. Additionally, she stated that she and Tony Khan regularly talk about her eventual return to the Jacksonville-based company.

"It's something that Tony and I talk about quite a bit in person. It's like, 'Okay, we did Battle of the Belts, we're sprinkling it here and there. We've done pre-shows on multiple pay-per-views with myself and Billie [Starkz] and Lexi [Nair] in there as well.' I think it's just a matter of time." [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
