Blackpool Combat Club member says his "neck isn't doing so great" ahead of major match

A Blackpool Combat Club member revealed an unfortunate piece of information ahead of Forbidden Door. The star being discussed is Bryan Danielson. He has been signed with AEW since 2021 and is part of a faction called Blackpool Combat Club. He is set to retire as a full-time wrestler this year.

On the Dynasty Pay-Per-View, he wrestled Will Ospreay in a match that was universally praised by the fans. The match didn't end well for The American Dragon though, as Will hit him with a Tiger Driver, a vicious move that sidelined Bryan for weeks. The Aerial Assassin has retired the move since the incident.

Things are getting rather chaotic as Forbidden Door is getting closer. Different worlds collided on a recent edition of Dynamite. Many NJPW, STARDOM, and CMLL stars were featured on the show. Bryan Danielson is booked to face Shingo Takagi at the event and the duo will battle to qualify for the second round of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, the 43-year-old star revealed that his neck wasn't at its best ahead of his match with Shingo. He also talked about how Forbidden Door was a unique show, unlike any other event.

“My neck isn’t doing so great right now. This is my chance to wrestle Shingo again, and Forbidden Door is one of my favorite pay-per-views. That’s because of the uniqueness of it. Five years ago, multiple promotions didn’t work together to put on a super show. Now CMLL and Stardom are involved,” he said. [H/T - Ringside News]

Blackpool Combat Club member sends a message to Shingo Takagi

On Dynamite, Blackpool Combat Club battled Los Ingobernables de Japan (Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi, and Titan) in a trios match, while Bryan Danielson was at the commentary desk. Unfortunately, the contest ended abruptly after Jon Moxley used a chair in the match. Later, Bryan and Shingo had a brief confrontation.

In a backstage interview afterward, a furious American Dragon said he is tired of losing and claimed Shingo is getting the worst of him.

"I am tired of you trying to hurt the people that I love. And you know what else I am tired of? I am tired of losing. I am tired of disappointing my fans and disappointing my family. Disappointing myself. Sunday, Forbidden Door, that ain't gonna happen. And Shingo, you'll get the worst of me," he said.

Only time will tell if Danielson will win the Own Hart Tournament and challenge for the AEW World Championship.
