Bobby Lashley comments on getting shot at during a robbery, AEW star was in complete "shock"
Bobby Lashley once escaped a near-death situation which happened before he began his pro wrestling career. The incident involved him getting shot at, but fortunately, the bullet didn't hit him.
The All Mighty began his pro wrestling career in WWE. He made his debut for WWE's developmental brand, Ohio Valley Wrestling, in January 2005. He wrestled for the Stamford-based promotion for many years but is currently a member of Tony Khan's roster, which he joined in September 2024. He made his AEW debut on the October 30 edition of Dynamite: Fright Night.
Bobby Lashley was a recent guest on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, where he shared one of the most frightening experiences of his life. He recalled the time when he witnessed a bank robbery.
"I don't know what happened, if the guy like kicked the door down and just because of that the gun went off, but the gun went off. I took a dive down on the ground and I was laying down there on just a cold pavement for a while and that was kind of like — that, you know, [was the] let's get serious mode because I was like, I'm in a position of disadvantage completely laying on the ground."
Lashley explained that the daunting incident had negative impacts on his physical and mental state.
"And that was that time where a lot of your life start [sic] like flashing before you because when he shot, I don't know, it was something where I couldn't even hear out of the side so I had like a ringing in my head and then just diving down to the ground I felt like, you know, just with the contact I was like, you know, I was shocked, so my whole body was kind of in shock there for a second." The bank robbery incident ended Bobby Lashley's Olympic career
Following the shocking incident, when Bobby Lashley tried to get up from the ground, he noticed excruciating pain in his knee. A few tests later, he discovered that he had sustained some serious injuries in his knee and was advised to go under the knife.
The AEW star hoped that he could recover and return to the US Olympic team but a second injury squashed all his dreams to make it to the Olympics, thereby ending his amateur career forever.
