Bobby Lashley says he wasn't happy with recent AEW match amid rumors of his blockbuster debut
AEW is set to officially welcome Bobby Lashley to the roster soon if the rumor mill and backstage sources are correct. The former WWE Champion seems to have the perfect debut storyline waiting for him, but new comments from Lashley seem to indicate that there are already issues between him and Tony Khan's company.
MVP and Shelton Benjamin recently joined All Elite Wrestling, and it's believed Lashley will join them soon. Benjamin made his AEW in-ring debut last week by defeating Lio Rush, who served as Lashley's manager and hype-man in WWE a few years back. Benjamin dominated the match, and MVP knocked Rush in a post-match promo.
The All Mighty isn't happy with his former stablemates fighting his former manager. During a recent K&S WrestleFest virtual signing, Lashley brought up Rush vs. Benjamin when discussing potential feuds in TNA and AEW. He expressed disapproval of last week's Dynamite match.
"There’s all kinds of different feuds that’d look great, and I seen Lio [Rush] over there over at AEW, plus MVP and Shelton [Benjamin]. That’s always a good opportunity to get back into the... you know what? It’s whatever, I'll let the fans pick. Lio Rush is my dude. I’ll fight for Lio. I saw Shelton fight Lio last week and I wasn’t too happy about that. I like Lio, Lio’s a freaking star," Bobby Lashley said. [H/T: POST Wrestling]
Rush once again returned to AEW in May, and it was noted in June that he would be an All Elite regular moving forward. The former WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion announced earlier this month that he has re-signed with Khan' promotion, but it remains to be seen if he will be aligned with Lashley. Rush has also worked for ROH, NJPW, and RevPro as of late.
AEW announces Shelton Benjamin future matches
Montel Vontavious Porter and Shelton Benjamin have reunited in All Elite Wrestling. MVP debuted in late September at Grand Slam, then one week later he introduced Benjamin at the Dynamite fifth anniversary show.
The Gold Standard made his in-ring debut last Wednesday with a win over Lio Rush. He will return to the ring on tonight's Dynamite against ROH World Tag Team Champion Sammy Guevara. This is a match requested by The Spanish God.
Benjamin will then face Swerve Strickland on next week's Fright Night edition of Dynamite. MVP will be in Benjamin's corner, while new rival Prince Nana will be with Swerve.
MVP has not confirmed if he will wrestle for Tony Khan. However, his first match since July 2022 has been announced for Sunday, November 24 at Josh Barnett's Bloodsport XII from GCW. Porter will face Barnett that night.
