Bobby Lashley shares major details about his AEW contract - "He’ll give me the opportunity"

Bobby Lashley recently made his debut for AEW. He has now revealed some big details about his contract.

There were speculations for weeks that Bobby Lashley could be headed to AEW after both MVP and Shelton debuted in Tony Khan's promotion. The All Mighty finally made his debut on the October 30th episode of Dynamite and attacked Swerve Strickland. He is now set to compete in his first PPV match for the promotion against the former AEW World Champion at Full Gear 2024.

Apart from dominating the wrestling ring, Lashley has other interests having previously dabbled in MMA and even competed for Bellator and Strikeforce. He also has a 15-2 record in MMA until that career was put on hold when he returned to WWE. However, he can now continue this due to his contract with AEW.

Lashley was recently interviewed on The Lame Guys podcast where he stated that Tony Khan told him that he could do other things outside the company like boxing, MMA, bare knuckles, etc. if he chooses to do so:

“I think part of it was because Tony [Khan] did tell me that I had [the] opportunity to do other things also. So if I do want to really tackle that fight and do another fight — whether it’s boxing, bareknuckles, MMA — I think he’ll give me the opportunity to. Then all my other projects also that I’ve been working on,” Lashley said. “So I think that was part of it, just having the ability to do other things.” [H/T F4wonline]

Bobby Lashley gives his honest thoughts on Tony Khan

Tony Khan is well-known for being a nice guy. Despite the harsh criticisms he gets from fans and critics, the AEW boss is well-liked backstage by several of his talents. Several wrestlers have praised Tony's love and knowledge of the business and most people from the industry have had nothing but nice things to say about him.

Speaking on the same podcast, Bobby Lashley was quick to praise his boss' passion and knowledge of the business. He even called him "an encyclopedia of wrestling knowledge" before stating that he treats people well:

“I think he’s great for the sport of wrestling — or the business of wrestling, however you want to look at it. But I think he really is a genuine dude. In the wrestling business it’s scary because it’s like, ‘Don’t let your guard down, don’t let your guard down [laughs].’ But he has been, man. I’ve seen the guy go around, and he genuinely loves wrestling and he loves the guys in wrestling. So when you come in, like, he knows about everything that you’ve ever done. He’s like an encyclopedia of wrestling knowledge. And he actually treats people really well,” Lashley said. [H/T F4Wonline]

It will be interesting to see what other projects Bobby Lashley will take on now that his contract permits him to do so.
